The family in Quran
Islamic history tells us stories about
Prophets and what happened to them, their conversation with their
people, which tells some events, miracles, or torments that hit the
idolaters, but what concerns us here is how Quran interpreted the
concept of family, for example who are the people of the Prophet or
his family? Are we the people of Prophet Isa (Jesus) or Prophet
Muhammad's? Although we know that we don't share the exact same
bloodline with him.
Sheikh Sha'rawi said about Prophet
Lot's wife, "she didn't get out the city with her husband and the
rest of the believers, because she wanted to stay with her people
who were sinners, and God said in the Quran,
((We saved him and all his family,
except his wife, who was made to remain))(1)
So God didn't consider Lot's wife as
part of the Prophet's family. Family comes in two forms: the family
in blood and the family in religion, in other words, your family in
body or your family in Soul.
we can also remember the story of Noah
who tried to convince his son to ride in the ark before flood
happen, but his sun refused to follow his father and sank in the
flood, Noah called his Lord ((O Lord, my
son was of my family)) and God said ((he is not of your family. It
is not a good deed))(2)
So the real family in this sense are
those who is with you in the same path and the same cause, the Quran
favor the relation in spirit over the relation in blood.
And we can learn a great lesson is
that we cannot guide whom we please, it is Allah who guides whom He
will, for example, Pharaoh could not convince his wife to believe in
him and reject the Lord of Moses, although she was the closest one
to him,
Moreover, Prophet Lot could not force
his wife to follow him, believe in him and leave her family's
customs. (Quran always confirms the rights of free choice and
protects it) the right to believe and the right to behave according
to your believes, so the person should not choose his religion and
his "family" that he wanted to follow blindly (without
understanding).
Jesus Christ mentioned this separation
between the family in blood and the family in religion and called it
the "sword" when he said "Do not think that I came to bring peace on
earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."(3)
A man calling us to love our enemies,
a man who says "god is love", how would he come to earth with a
sword? His sword is not like any other sword, his sword is the
sword of mercy and reunion, a sword that can cut you from ignorance
to reconnect you to the light, from infidelity to faith, the man of
mercy is not soft, Buddha isn't soft, instead of that he is the
"integrator of contradictions"... like the master who hit his
disciple to wake him up, because man wakes up only in the moment of
danger, when he face the sward!
The real enlightened master is always
annoying, offensive, and rebelling, he also teaches people how to
rebel against the injustice, wrongs and lies, this is what called
the (Jihad of self) and (jihad in the name of Allah). And I'm not
talking here about the Jihad in DAESH ways or Isis!! Which means
killing all non-believers, because as we mentioned prophets didn't
kill their apostate wives and didn't force anyone to believe
according to their way? So be careful.
As the poet says "every Sword is evil
if stripped of its Nabil goals", as we know, the sword has two face
of coin, a good face and bad one; you can use to fight for justice
or murder.
The mission of enlightened persons is
to make you wake up, not to cry with you, not to be kind with you,
they come with a sword and they will use it until the justice take
its course.
It's not necessary for the sword to be
material, and it's not necessary for the hitting to be physical, but
words are weapons and could be more devastating than real swords, as
prophet Isaiah says in his prophecy about MESSIAH :
"Before I was born the Lord called
me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name. He made my mouth
like a sharpened sword" (4)
The closest examples we have about
that is Mariam Nour she is American lady, Lebanese root, first lady
talked about the harmful of junk food and shared Osho books in Arab
world, (and she is the lady who support me to be better person in
life AND STILL SHE IS –you can find more videos in my Videos page)..
according to the point we were talking about, I mentioned her way
in talking in media, many Arabs audience find her words annoying,
disturbing and Shocking, this annoyance is the same as ignorant's
discomfort when facing the words of the enlightened.
So now I leave you with verses from of
Khalil Gibran's book (The
Prophet)
"..Like
sheaves of corn [Love] gathers you unto itself.
It
threshes you to make you naked.
It
sifts you to free you from your husks.
It
grinds you to whiteness..."
